Vlorë is one of the few cities in Europe where you can paraglide and land on the promenade: the Shashicë take-off, 450-750 metres above the city, gives you 10-15 minutes of flight over the bay with views of Sazan island, landing on the Lungomare beach. Near-daily flights from May to October, with north or south-west wind.
The iconic alternative is the Llogara Pass (1,027 m, 45 minutes by car from Vlorë): take off from the national park among the pines, soar over the cliff where the mountains plunge into the Ionian Sea and land on the beaches of Palasë or Dhërmi. 15-30 minutes of flight, season from April to October (full swing July-mid October). Considered one of the most beautiful take-offs in the Balkans.
No experience needed: tandem flights with APPI-certified pilots with thousands of flights behind them, a 10-minute briefing and off you go. GoPro video is almost always included. Frequently asked questions
Do I need experience or training?
No. The flight is tandem: the pilot does everything, you run 3-4 steps at take-off and enjoy the flight seated in the harness. Minimum age 6, weight 25-110 kg.
What happens if the wind is wrong?
The flight is moved by a few hours or to the next day, at no cost. That's why we recommend booking paragliding for the first days of your holiday: there's room to reschedule.
Vlorë city or Llogara?
Vlorë/Shashicë if short on time (flight + transfer = 1.5 hours) and you want to land on the promenade. Llogara for the most scenic flight (15-30 min) combined with a day on the southern Riviera.
Can I bring my phone?
Yes, with a lanyard case; but the pilot records everything on the GoPro anyway and hands you the video after landing.
