Çika peak (2,044 m) is the roof of the Ceraunian Mountains, the ones you see plunging into the sea from Vlorë. Climbing up there with the park guide, the Ionian 2,000 metres below your feet and views reaching Italy on clear days, is the hike you don't forget.
Direct booking with local operators: no hidden fees, free cancellation up to 48h before.
You start from the Llogara Pass (transfer from Vlorë included) and climb first through beech and pine forest, then onto the ridge where the panorama suddenly opens: the entire Riviera, Sazan, Vlorë bay, Corfu on the horizon. The trail is steep but never exposed or technical: good shoes, good legs and off you go.
The guide is local and knows the park inch by inch: chamois, golden eagles and, in spring, wild orchids along the trail. Lunch is packed at altitude (we prepare it on request) and the cold beer at the pass refuge on return is mandatory.
Hikers used to mountain walking: 7-8 hours and 1,000 m of elevation are demanding. Not for those seeking a stroll: for that there's Caesar's Path.
At the summit the weather changes fast: the guide assesses that same morning. With storms approaching the date moves or you get a refund.
On the clearest days yes: the Apulian coast on the horizon, across the Otranto channel. Best odds are early morning and after a day of north-westerly wind.
No: the climb is done in a day from the pass. 2-day treks with tents exist for the more experienced: ask privately.
